P.D. DHUMAL

Born 1950 in Gwalior, artist P. D. Dhumal studied Painting and Printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. He has also attended several printmaking workshops such as with The Smithsonian in Delhi, and others across the country.

Dhumal went on to teach Printmaking at his alma mater, beginning 1976 and headed the department during his time there. He is revered as much for his mentorship to a whole generation (and more) of artists, as he is for his own work.

Dhumal has a number of solo shows in Delhi and Mumbai to his credit, exhibiting both- his paintings and prints, in addition coordinating various art camps in India and abroad. He received the Best Print Award at the Lalit Kala Annual exhibitions, both in 1970 and 71.

He visited France on invitation from the French government (1997), with his artistic pursuits drawing him to travel extensively across the globe including through Egypt, Thailand, Spain, China, Russia, U.K. and U.S.A.
