NIREN SEN GUPTA

Niren Sengupta was born in January 1940 in Bengal. He graduated in science from the Calcutta University and in Arts from Government College of Art & Crafts, Calcutta. His works are aesthetic expressions of his inner reflections infused with serenity, sacrifice, service and beauty. For him, art is an expression of inner language and a form of communion. He finds lasting beauty in the serenity of total surrender of the monks of Ramakrishna Mission; a mission that signifies sacrifices and service to mankind.

Niren Sen Gupta has taught for over 30 years at graduate & post-graduate levels in various art institutions. He is also a founding member of ‘Gallery 26? in Kolkata, along with being a member of Calcutta painters and Executive member of Academy of Visual Media, New Delhi.He has been awarded many esteemed awards like AIFACS Award and NBT Award in New Delhi; Award for Humanity Udayan Care; DSCWOS. Guptas’ works can be found at known galleries like Lalit Kala Akademi. A professional painter and teacher, Niren Sengupta is the Ex-Principal of College of Art, New Delhi. Artist lives and works from his studio in New Delhi.
