Dhruv Patel

Dhruv Patel did his Masters (also Bachelors) in Visual Arts from MSU, Baroda. A Dhruv Patel’s sculptures offer a compelling exploration of the profound connections between humans and the animal world, with a particular focus on Langurs, especially the Black-Headed Monkeys. Patel’s work masterfully merges human and monkey characteristics, creating hybrid forms that illuminate the deep, intrinsic links shared by the two species. This synthesis not only underscores our shared desires and needs but also serves as a poignant reminder of the fundamental parallels that unite all living beings.

In his art, Patel delves into themes of environmental consciousness, human-animal relationships, and introspection. The monkeys, with their strikingly human-like characteristics, emerge as powerful motifs, embodying the delicate interplay between primal instincts and higher cognitive abilities. Through this blend of features, Patel invites viewers to reexamine their connection to nature and to acknowledge the shared existence that binds us all.

Patel’s sculptures are more than mere representations; they are a call to reflection. By portraying these hybrid figures, he challenges viewers to feel themselves within these creatures, encouraging a deeper contemplation of our place within the natural world. His work serves as a reminder of the delicate balance we must maintain in our relationship with the environment and the responsibility we bear in preserving it.
