On view from March 22 through April 30, 2025, Rekha Hebbar Rao’s solo exhibition at our gallery space in New Delhi curated by Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya, presented a selection of works spanning from the 1990s to her most recent paintings, tracing her journey both as an insider shaped by a rich artistic legacy and as an observer interpreting the world through a prism of gentle colour and quiet introspection.
Life on earth extends far beyond humanity, encompassing nature in all its forms. Once revered and respected, nature today bears the impact of unchecked civilisation. This consciousness resonates strongly in the artworks of Rekha Hebbar Rao. Her practice is rooted in emotion, memory, and impressionistic observation, shaped by her surroundings and the enduring influence of her father, the legendary K.K. Hebbar. Drawing from a deep cultural and artistic lineage, her works reflect a quiet rural sensibility, marked by simplicity, restraint, and timelessness.
