Born in 1959, Somanth Chattaterjee is a member of the Calcutta Sculptors group. He did his Bachelors degree of visual arts from Government college of arts and sculpture under Calcutta University 1986.

He has participated in about 40 shows at different art galleries in India from 1985-2011. He is a master of sculptures and has done outstanding work with bronze as the medium. In all his works, his complex technique stands out and lends fluidity to his work. Rustic charm and creative use of negative spaces is his hallmark and makes his work unique.
